Kent Scharf & Debbi Scharf
Kent Scharf – Married to Debbi Taylor Scharf in 1974. Kent and Debbi have two sons, Andrew and AJ, four wonderful grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor, Andrew (Drew), and Makenzie and of course, the extended family of daughters-in-law, Kristin Scharf, (AJ’s wife) and Amy Scharf (Andy’s wife).
Kent started out at a very early age (9) working on a farm near Millstadt, IL. In the early 70’s he began working in a local body shop learning the trade. He worked there until 1982 when he went to work for Jim Taylor, Inc. (owned by Debbi’s father, Jim Taylor) as an inventory control manager. He worked up through the ranks and became General Superintendent. Then from 2005 through 2006, he briefly moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to run a roofing division for Taylor Roofing. Even though Kent was working full time at one location or another, Kent managed to build his first home with his wife, Debbi, in 1976 working evenings and weekends. Their dream was always to have a little acreage, so again, in 2000; Kent and Debbi built another home on 2-1/2 acres, where they still reside. In 2006, Kent and Debbi decided to start a handyman service and thus opened Scharf Building Services. With the quality of service and knowledge, Scharf Building Services business began to grow exponentially. He is hoping for more great things to continue to grow the business as well as taking care of the small things that our customers still need.
Debbi Scharf – Married to Kent Scharf in 1974. Kent and Debbi have two sons, Andrew and AJ, four wonderful grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor, Andrew (Drew), and Makenzie and of course, the extended family of daughters-in-law, Kristin Scharf (AJ’s wife) and Amy Scharf (Andy’s wife).
Debbi began working for Jim Taylor, Inc. (formerly Biebel Roofing Company) in 1970 for her father, Jim Taylor. Over the years, she had many hats (including hard hats) to wear while working for her father. Starting out, Debbi worked in the office doing all of the typing and general office work. Yes, on a regular type-writer with carbon paper? She also did some time-estimating on the roofs, operated a crane, helped install a few EPDM roofing systems and helped with the inventory control. Debbi would also help her dad measure roofing systems and make drawings accordingly to expedite the bidding process. Debbi ended her stay with Taylor Roofing as office manager. After her father’s passing in 2000, Debbi became part owner of Jim Taylor, Inc., with two of her sisters, Catherine Taylor Yank and Sherri Reno. While they are still at the roofing company, Debbi, along with Kent, left and started Scharf Building Services in 2006. Debbi takes care of all of the bookkeeping and marketing for Scharf Building Services and can also help on minor things on projects.
